Nuclear Medicine is a specialty service of the Diagnostic Imaging department employing State of California certified specially trained, technologists who utilize radioactive drugs in a variety of ways for clinical examinations.
These medical procedures help to diagnose a broad spectrum of conditions ranging from suspected heart attacks with injury to the heart uscle, to suspected blood clots in the lungs, the spread of prostate or breast cancer to the bones, to functioning of the gallbladder or thyroid.
These tests are digitally acquired and electronically transmitted to the hospital's contracted radiologic group of specialty physicians specifically trainined in interpreting Nuclear Medicine procedures.
This department is reviewed by the State of California and the Sutter Health consulting medical physicists to assure the highest standards of performance and quality.
